Records were broken by Charli Hayes in 100-metre freestyle – 10 seconds under record time – and seven-year-old Charlotte Roberts in the 25m butterfly, reducing the time by three seconds.

Charli’s tally of three firsts, three thirds and a third in the skins was a reward for the training.

Charlotte also recorded two firsts and two second places.

Other junior swimmers to impress were nine-year-old Jed Hayes with two firsts, three seconds and two thirds, and a third in skins, Kasey Hayes, 7, picked up two firsts and one third, and Curtis Pirie, 8, one first and two thirds.

Nic Hawtin-Hirst collected three firsts and three seconds, and a second in the skins by the smallest of margins is another to show the benefits of hard training.

Natalie Jeffery’s first place in the 66m backstroke and second in 66m freestyle will give her some confidence in future carnivals.

Mae Pirie, 6, Xanthe Forrester, 8, Bailee Davis, 9, Xanthe Althofer, 9, Audry Pisto, 10, Gabby Wiltshire, 10, and Jasmine Russell all swam well and showed promise for the future.

Mudgee Indoor finished second in the under 8s, under 10s and under 12s relays.

FOREVER YOUNG: Mudgee Indoor’s under 8s relay team Curt Pirie, Charlotte Roberts, Livi Hurst and Kasey Hayes.
