SHOALHAVEN Heads Veterans Golf Club patron Lindsay Wellard was honoured at the recent 2012 awards presentation with a special presentation.
Mr Wellard was presented with a certificate of appreciation for his contribution to veterans golf by Mid South Coast Veteran Golfers Association (MSCVGA) secretary John Buttle and president Brian Rowe and vice-president of NSW Veteran Golfers Association Ian Vidler.
Lindsay also received his portrait painted by NSW Vets Councillor Col Darley. Lindsay has used his experience of seven years on the Nowra Vets committee as vice-captain and 20 years at Campbelltown Golf Club to help start vets golf at Shoalhaven Heads in 1997.
He was secretary/treasurer in 1997-1999, succeeded Tony Elliott as president for 10 years from 2000-2010, was vice-president in 2011 and patron in 2012.
Shoalhaven Heads Veteran Golf Club vice-president Noel Schneider said Mr Wellard stamped his inimitable style on all his positions.
“He has also served as a director of Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club, delegate to MSCVGA and has contributed to the upkeep of the course with mowing, bushcare, general housekeeping and he will even sing you a song,” he said.
“To cap it all off he is still winning regularly and is the 2012 Nett B grade champion.”
Mr Wellard was thanked for his selfless contribution which has led to the steady growth over the years and results in a strong vets club as his legacy.
