Contested over the 1710m journey, the event is the feature on a big nine race program scheduled for Christmas Eve at the Goulburn Paceway.

A small but handsome black gelding, Mac Bromac earned his spot in the final when taking out heat one by a narrow margin at the club’s last meeting.

On that occasion he recorded a smart 1:57 mile rate, and in the process relegated the subsequent Canberra winner Cashel Cormac to the minor place position.

The best chance for a hometown win rests with the David Hewitt trained Clem Daniel who was the winner of heat two.

Showing a marked improvement on his previous run at Bathurst, the Hewitt trained and driven pacer work to the front before the bell lap and raced away to score effortlessly in the mile rate of 1:57.6 The third heat was taken out by the handy mare Gifted Bliss, who is trained by Blake Fitzpatrick.

The mare started an odds on favourite in her heat when scoring by a big margin from the Canberra trained pair of Just Enzo and Pulveriser.

Following her Goulburn win the mare was a very good second at Menangle when beaten a neck by Hez Got The Nod. On that occasion the winner returned a fast 1:54 for the mile and with the services of Blake Fitzpatrick the mare has the speed to take up a position with the leaders and will prove very hard to beat.

The program of racing will commence at 1.04pm with the last scheduled for 6pm. Aside from the C0 Championship, a good quality fast class race has drawn together a number of good performers including the South Australian trained Albert Jaccka.

Trained by Darren Billinger, Albert is a stablemate to the very popular Come On Frank.

With the weekend to finalise all the outstanding Christmas needs, harness fans can then relax on Christmas Eve with an action packed program of harness racing at the Goulburn Paceway. All the fields, form analysis and latest information will be available in Monday’s Goulburn Post.
